It has been great to see so many enthusiastic runners taking part in Cross Country races – and training – this season.
Congratulations to the Y4 boys’ cross country team who finished the season as the second placed team in Sheffield. As a result, they were invited to take part in the South Yorkshire School Games Cross Country Final at Cannon Hall Park in Barnsley on Friday 20th March. This was a fantastic achievement and all the boys ran very well on the day.
Jamie Howse was unbeaten throughout the season and so finished 1st in the Y4 boys’ league. Jonah Raby was 4th in the Y5/6 boys’ league. Amelia Ashmore finished 2nd in the Y4 girls’ league, with her sister Lara 8th for the Y5/6 girls.
The final race of the season was the relay competition, held at Norfolk Park on Saturday 21st March. Everyone ran brilliantly and showed great team spirit. It was a shame that we did not have full teams in every age-group, but our runners made up mixed teams with runners from other schools and Leila Speed even ran two laps! The Y4 boys’ A team of Dominic Metz, Louie Platt, Tim Shorrock and Jamie Howse finished 3rd.
Cross Country training will continue on Thursday lunch-times after the Easter holidays and will be open to all year-groups, including Y3.
